I've mentioned before in my posts that I like to stay fit and healthy, but sometimes - it can't always be the case. Sometimes I literally have no time in the morning to get a packed lunch together, and i felt like i was slowly falling into the "I'll just grab a meal deal" habit. This obviously needed to change for the sake of my waistline, health, AND bank account. I do now make the effort most days out of the working week to take my own salad, or salad sandwich and some fruit, BUT there are still days where I need to "grab n go" on a lunch break. Because of this, i decided to try and create/find my very own meal deal WITH A TWIST! Yeah, you guessed it... a healthy meal deal. Sounds impossible right? I do have a slight advantage when it comes to this though - I work in a little village full of organic fruits and veggies just a few steps away. I do know that lots of people work in busier places with less time to get around quite so easily to healthy places and cafes that you've spent time sourcing out, so I've also tried to include some tips to keep your lunches light! My adorable lunch (healthy meal deal) kinda... THIS delicious concoction is a egg and beetroot salad, with cherry tomatoes, a hard boiled egg, and a delicious cheese savoury dip. I also have a bottle of Volvic. My favourite at the moment is the Orange and Peach Touch of Fruit flavour - it's so refreshing! I always try to make sure I have at least one piece of fruit for my snack - this usually consists of a banana or a mandarin orange. Easy peal because I just can't. Price: just under £4 for the salad box and the bottle of water (i took the fruit with me!) Calories: the entire lunch came to 371 calories and I was left satisfied at the end! tips for even busier people! I do understand that I'm kinda living the life with where my new job is located, but as I've said before, I know that this just can't be the case for some people. But this doesn't mean you can't eat healthily! Here are some of my top tips to keep your meal deal as healthy as possible...

Okay, so I'm not 100% teetotal. I WILL still have a cocktail if I'm on holiday, and i will drink champagne on special occasions. But just drinking alcohol mindlessly? It's not for me. I'm not trying to be the party pooper, and I don't have a problem with alcohol - or people who drink it. But I do have a problem with the health issues that can often be related to it. I haven't written this blog to force you to change your ways if you're a lover of alcohol, I've simply written it to explain why I choose not to drink it as much as the next teenager. I'm the weird one... not youWhen i hit the legal age to drink alcohol and head out with my friends into the cities on nights out, my family members would always joke that I'm not a normal teenager. Which okay... I'm really not! But I'm okay with that! I have so many reasons for not drinking alcohol, some of them are important to me, others are just because of personal preference. my reasons...
my other reasons
most importantly...(Okay, so I'm 'bout to get all emoshe!) Early 2017 I was rushed to hospital with a fully collapsed lung which required me to have half of my lung removed. Since this experience, I have made a huge effort to maintain my good health, and to become healthier. I never smoked, and now i never will. But this doesn't bother me at all, because i know that I'm keeping my lungs as healthy as i possibly can. I understand that lots of people smoke for so many different reasons - members of my family smoke and many of my friends. But just like these people choose too, i choose not too. Again, I don't have any problems with those who choose to smoke, it's personal preference and it's your body. a new moral to the story and myths...Nevertheless, smoke and drink or not, you're never going to be completely exempt from health issues. This is something that I never realised until my lung collapsed last year. I truly believed that only those who smoke get lung cancer or lung issues, I used to believe that those who drink alcohol are the only ones who end up with a damaged liver. But THIS IS NOT THE CASE. As I've said, i rarely drink and never smoke(d) BUT it was MY lung that collapsed and MY liver that got damaged from the amount of pain relief i was ordered to take. At the time, i thought it was an absolute joke! I just kept saying "why me?! I've always been so healthy!". I thought i was doing everything "right". My new moral to this story is that everyone's body can handle different things, and can become damaged in various ways. But only YOU know what's best for YOUR body. I'm never going to enforce my opinions on those who drink or smoke, because it's their choice - they're not stupid either - they know the risks. But everything in life comes with a risk, and we can't all live on eggshells. We can't all only ever eat salad and drink water, because we could still become damaged (and sad quite frankly). All that's changed since my experience, is that I'm now an advocate of a healthy lifestyle and I love to show that off as much as i can! If you're like me, please don't be pressuredI know it's a horrible feeling when you're out with your friends and they're trying to get you to drink more, or you head out for a meal and you're happy to be the designated driver?! But here are the AMAZING pros...

As many people know, I had to undergo emergency surgery early 2017 and have since spent my time recovering. During this time, I realised that life and death is so so precious, and that I wanted to find a new way of documenting my life and adventures - no matter how big or small. And what better way than to blog about it? any tips for bloggers out there who may need some inspiration?I think that if a blogger is a lil bit stuck on the inspiration side of things (it happens!) then i would recommend taking a blogger-time-out. I love Spain, Greece, Israel, and Turkey! Israel is one of the most beautiful places I've been to, and the people are so lovely! what are you most excited for in 2018?RECOVERING!! Other than that, i'm looking forward to being healthier than ever, and seeing new places. any persons inspire you that you'd love to meet?Okay so other than Hilary Duff who is my all-time hero, i would LOVE to meet April, from Travelling Wanderer. fave place to visit at home?Devon - it's like a second home to me! questions for my nominees

First of all, happy new year! After starting my blog late last year, I've been so lucky to find that you guys are actually enjoying it - especially on my Twitter! So thank you for all your amazing support. Also, after having a blog break over the Christmas period, I have decided on some blogging goals for 2018 to keep everyone up-to-date and interested. Some of these goals are pretty basic, but hopefully they will help me, and other bloggers reading this. improve my photography (or get a photographer!)I've always been quite happy with the photos I've created of products and places, but my OOTD pictures are looking, well... not so great to say the least. Selfies aren't always going to cut it anymore! So, 2018 is going to bring a brand new look to my blog and my social media, hopefully now you guys will get to see a wide range of new content. practice hair and makeup!Hair and makeup have never been my strong point, and I very rarely share any content specifically pointing out my look of the day - however, i did post THIS, and people seemed to like it! In 2018 I'm going to start practicing my hair and makeup looks, and start sharing them on the regular for you guys to see. If you have any ideas/requests, send me a DM. Go to new places!I've already kick-started this one by booking a trip to Paris, which I'm VERY excited about! However, I'm going to find some new places and book a few extra trips to show you guys, and talk to you all about! After having quite a scary 2017, and being forced to cancel many trips, I'm hoping that 2018 will pay me back for what I've missed out on and had to post-pone. make a scheduleOver Christmas, I realised that I should probably create some sort of blogging schedule so that I'm never falling behind. It will also help me use leftover blogs to post on days when I haven't created one for that day. This should save me some time and keep my blogging organised. post more, and more regularlyThis kinda relates to the above, but yeah I really do need to post more! I'm going to start by aiming to write and share one blog per week, and then increase it as time goes on. find new bloggers... Follow me! |
