cute lunch on a good day // lifestyle

I've mentioned before in my posts that I like to stay fit and healthy, but sometimes - it can't always be the case. Sometimes I literally have no time in the morning to get a packed lunch together, and i felt like i was slowly falling into the "I'll just grab a meal deal" habit. This obviously needed to change for the sake of my waistline, health, AND bank account. I do now make the effort most days out of the working week to take my own salad, or salad sandwich and some fruit, BUT there are still days where I need to "grab n go" on a lunch break.

Because of this, i decided to try and create/find my very own meal deal WITH A TWIST!

Yeah, you guessed it... a healthy meal deal. Sounds impossible right? I do have a slight advantage when it comes to this though - I work in a little village full of organic fruits and veggies just a few steps away. I do know that lots of people work in busier places with less time to get around quite so easily to healthy places and cafes that you've spent time sourcing out, so I've also tried to include some tips to keep your lunches light!

My adorable lunch (healthy meal deal) kinda...

THIS delicious concoction is a egg and beetroot salad, with cherry tomatoes, a hard boiled egg, and a delicious cheese savoury dip. I also have a bottle of Volvic. My favourite at the moment is the Orange and Peach Touch of Fruit flavour - it's so refreshing! I always try to make sure I have at least one piece of fruit for my snack - this usually consists of a banana or a mandarin orange. Easy peal because I just can't.

Price: just under £4 for the salad box and the bottle of water (i took the fruit with me!)

Calories: the entire lunch came to 371 calories and I was left satisfied at the end!

tips for even busier people!

I do understand that I'm kinda living the life with where my new job is located, but as I've said before, I know that this just can't be the case for some people. But this doesn't mean you can't eat healthily! Here are some of my top tips to keep your meal deal as healthy as possible...
  • Instead of grabbing a Tesco sarnie (which can come in at a whopping 500 calories for JUST the sandwich!!) opt for the Tuna Salad Pasta Pots, or the Tomato and Basil Pasta Pots which come in at around 400 calories. You can also grab the plain salads, just watch out for the nutritional labels as to how much fat is in them from added dressing.
  • We all know you get a snack with your deal, and we all love crisps. But again, always check the label. One packet of Salt and Vinegar McCoy's has 179 calories! Instead of going for a fried crisp, try a baked crisp (Mini Cheddars or Hula Hoops!) which are much healthier and have less saturated fat. If you're being SUPER good just grab the fruit or a nutty bar!
  • Finally... the drink. Use all your willpower to AVOID THE FIZZY DRINKS and sparkling waters. Try and choose a juice, or a bottle of flavoured, still water. Or wait till you're back at work and have a green tea!

I like taking fancy pictures on my new GoPro (that you will be hearing lots about) and sharing them with as many people as possible.
